I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Political Science at Wellesley College. My main interests are in the following broad areas of study:
- African political theory and philosophy (especially as related to statehood/anarchism, aesthetics and epistemology)
- Statehood, anarchism & anarcha-feminism
- The history of African political thought
- Utopias & utopian thought
- (Body) Aesthetics
- Epistemology
- Architectural history
With regard to my work on African political theory and philosophy and the history of African political thought, I have regional expertise on East Africa, but am very interested in the broader African context and the African diaspora. I have a PhD in Political Science from the London School of Economics, an MA in African Studies (African Philosophy stream) from SOAS, and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Strathmore University. I speak English and Swahili fluently, speak pretty good French, and basic German and Luhya.
My academic work is an exciting part of my life, but there are other worlds in which one may find me – I am an occasional creative writer, am desperately trying to be a sporty person, and have many horticultural ambitions :).
